Queens Park Rangers 0 Burnley 5

Burnley routed QPR 5-0 in the penultima game of the season to take the championship title race to the wire. Read on for images from Loftus Road and my thoughts on the game.

Josh Cullen opened the scoring in the 9th minute, picking up a pass from Brownhill on the D, and sliding it gently past the keeper into the bottom left corner. Any slower, the defence might have retrieved it.

The second came in to 20th minute, the returning Koleosho crossing into the box, was picked up by Roberts who's shot was cleared off the line by the defence, Hannibal steered the clearance to Flemming, who fired home from the 6 yard line.

Flemming made it 3-0 in the 28th minute. Koleosho, who looked a different player, slid the ball over to Brownhill who put a looping cross into the net which met Flemming's head at the far post.

Talking of revived players, Sarmiento popped up in the second half, in front of his Ecuadorian fan club. In the 62nd minute Brownhill played it forward to Flemming, who slipped the ball out to Sarmiento to score at the near (right) post underneath the travelling support, Koleosho again fundamental in the build-up.

Aaron Ramsey came on in the 84th minute - his first action since his injury in the premier league 18 months previous.

The fifth goal came in the second minute of injury time with a fast moving break up the field. Redmond picking up the ball on the right side of the box played it in towards the penalty spot, from where Sarmiento fired in his second goal of the game.

I spotted Russel Ball in disguise in his Maxime Esteve t-shirt, and had a nice chat with him on the way out. He told me that he had previously lived nearby and had stayed down to enjoy the celebrations. I of course had commuted up and down, having been at a meeting at Fulham Uncommon the day prior.
