This site is built using Kev Quirk's PureBlog, and hosted on sustainable webhosting in the UK with Krystal.

Comments are served from my chatter subdomain using PureComments also designed and published as open source by Kev.

Lightweight and anonymised analytics are provided by Neatnik's neatstats, I find it interesting to know a little about what visitors are interested in reading and where they were referred from, without needing any identifying information about them, more on privacy here.

The CSS and theme was designed entirely by me, though some aspects of the underlying PureBlog structure and CSS remain. Colours are inspired by Burnley FC home (light mode) and third (dark mode) strips, and maintained within the PureBlog admin dashboard.

The theme make's use of the Braille Institute's wonderful Atkinson Hyperlegible next and mono font sets for main font and monospace. Emphasis text makes use of the open source Gloria Hallelujah font, providing a hand scrawl effect.

Icons used for navigation purposes are largely SVG code embeds provided by Phosphor, keeping things lightweight and simple without integrating third party libraries, but making these elements a bit more fun. Some custom made SVG files are used too, including the PureBlog and Powerof10 logos.

Video hosting is largely via youtube embed using the nocookie embed code. More recent videos in the clips section are hosted in the EU with Bunny CDN. In time my earlier videos will be duplicated or upgraded and served from there instead.

I used Echofeed to syndicate content published here first to Mastodon and Bluesky, though I will likely change the former to directly post from here imminently.

Fully IndieWeb ready, this site uses custom post types that I have created for PureBlog that incorporate microformats2 markup, and accepts and displays webmentions directly using webmention.io, and indirectly via the fediverse using bridgy. This site is an amalgamation of previous projects including lee-perry.co.uk, macretro.co.uk, insiderrr.com and others that have been littering the web since 2004. In that time I have used a static image generator, ZenPhoto, Joomla, Wordpress, Jekyll, Micro.Blog (Hugo), Kirby CMS and 11ty to hosts these sites. This is easily the happiest I've ever been with my workflow. Without wanting to psychophant, I think PureBlog has the right mix of simplicity, weight, markdown - it just gets out of the way. Anybody could publish and maintain a PureBlog hosted website, though some technical knowledge allows further customisation.
