Burnley 1 Bristol City 0

Burnley defeated Bristol City 1-0 in an EFL Championship match. Read on for my thoughts on the game.

I never could make the Bristol City match as Vickie was visiting her parents in Spain. With 6 high energy dogs in the house, and no dog sitter, this one was never likely to happen.

We entered the day in third place, Sheffield United having won their game since Swansea, but in good form having won 4 and drawn one in the last five. We had not lost in the league since Millwall in the 13th game of the season - 25 games prior.

This was a game in which Burnley restricted Bristol City to just 4 shots at goal and one on target, while failing to be ruthless enough with our 14 attempts at goal. The points were settled though by a superb Zian Flemming free kick from behind the penalty are to the left, curling the ball straight into the top left corner in the 16th minute.

Anthony should have done better with a pass from Edwards which found him clear on the penalty spot, but which he could only poke it meekly towards a thankful O'Leary in the Bristol City goal. Anthony again headed narrowly wide from a fantastic Flemming cross from near the right corner flag, while Edwards fired a strong effort to close to O'Leary.

The game should have been long buried, but Hirakawa had a good chance to level the match right at the death, thankfully putting the ball straight into the arms of Trafford, who held well in the fifth minute of three minutes of injury time!

Burnley finished the day on third place, behind Leeds United who could only draw on just goal difference, and still two points behind Sheffield United who we would play in the penultimate game of the season.

🎵 Twenty six twenty six undefeated... twenty six twenty six I say...
