Burnley 0 Bournemouth 2

Photographs from Turf Moor as Burnley hosted Bournemouth.

It was a much better performance today, but the outcome was the same. Burnley had 75% of the ball, twice as many shots as Bournemouth, twice as many shots on target, and ultimately lost to two sucker punches on the counter.

The refereeing was abysmal. Semenyo, who should have been shown a second yellow shortly after the first for throwing Fofana off the field, should not even have been on the pitch for the second half, never mind popping up in the 88th to seal the points. At least two ankle breaking challenges, one on Cullen, were rewarded with only yellows. To cap it all a perfectly good Burnley equaliser was ruled out for what was deemed to be a push on a defender - there is no point to VAR if it does not deal with simulated and exaggerated contact.

Having said all of that, we did not really look like ever scoring, and we probably got the result that our timidity in front of goal deserved.
